Going through these photographs had me laughing out loud. This family is more than adorable. They are a perfect example of a Slice of Life shoot with a 1, 2 and 4 year old packed into a short and sweet 1/2 hour. For the first time meeting them, I was welcomed right away with Amelia, Jude and Tessa in the window excited for me to arrive. Little Amelia adopted me as her new best friend right away and stole my heart.
Starting in the family room, I had them pile on the couch and not a second went by that wasn’t full of raw candid love. Laughs, nose pinches, a few tears, hugs and joy.
A Slice of Life shoot isn’t complete without bedroom shots. I like to be able to capture the essence of the kids at that exact time in their life by getting them in their room surrounded by their favorite things.
Slice of Life to me is not about capturing your family any other way then how you truly are. The real life. Full of feelings, craziness, crying, laughing and everything you are as a family in the present moment. This shoot with the Nalewajka Family was entirely just that and while going through the images it made me feel like I’ve known them from the beginning.
Thank You Julia and Roger for going with this style of photography and inviting me into your home to capture the essence of you.
For my photographer friends: I shot this with 50mm lens and 85mm lens with my Canon 6D in all natural light with manual settings. Editing was done in Lightroom with VSCO filters.
