Oh hey there, blog. This year has been one of the best years of my career, and I still have 15 more weddings to go! All my clients have seriously been THE BEST. I remind myself every day how crazy lucky I am to be a part of so many incredible wedding days.
Mush aside, let me tell you about this wedding spilling over with sexiness and glam. We started the day in Ottawa, Illinois at The Lone Buffalo. A super trendy high-end restaurant where the guys met me to get some portraits. The perfect spot to get some moody mob style images.
The girls were just a block away finishing up primping at a lofty urban style apartment (Thank You Carly!) But, OMG, this place was the ultimate location for turning regular ‘ol getting-ready shots into a Vogue session. This is why you should never look past the importance of your location for getting your dress on! Some of these shots were my favorite of the day. Hannah nailed it without even trying everything beaming with sexy.
The day threatened us with rain, but the girls planned with some cute, clear bubble umbrellas. The ceremony was inside super classy Morris Country Club tent. Don’t let the “tent” part fool you… it’s like a tent castle. Full of natural light and tall white peaks… ideal for photography. My favorite part of the ceremony? Jake holding back tears as he saw Hannah walk in with her Dad. Gets me every time.
The rain cleared out, and we were able to spend the rest of the day shooting outside all around the grounds of the club. The energy was laid back, fun and goofy. The wedding party had me laughing the entire time.
The reception was bursting with dance moves and drinks as I pulled the lovely couple outside for a few sunset shots. After a few more ridiculously candid images of the crowd busting moves… I called it a night and another amazing wedding done.
Most important parts of planning: Photographer, Flowers, and Venue choices
Favorite detail of the day: Her dress and the bridesmaid’s dresses!
Favorite memory of the day: Seeing each other for the first time at the aisle
Advice to future brides: Take one thing at a time and try not to stress out because all works out in the end. Don’t go over the top with the little things because you won’t even notice them. The day truly does fly by so take a moment to be still and take it all in!
Honeymoon: A week in St. Thomas
Thank You soooo much to Hannah and Jake for seriously being awesome and having me as your wedding photographer.
