Part II of Meg and Derek’s incredibly romantic Lake Geneva Wedding Weekend! The most important detail for Meg when planning was to create a whole weekend of fun for the friends and family coming to celebrate. This included the boat party on Friday, wedding on Saturday and get together brunch on Sunday. And of course, planning a wedding at Lake Geneva, she wanted to be close to the water!
The ceremony and cocktail hour were set against a breathtaking Lake backdrop, and the reception was wall-to-wall with large picture windows overlooking the same view. There was also a great amount of personal detail by Meg put into the planning. They both grew up with very tight bonds to their families, so it was incredibly important that there be a slideshow of them both growing up playing during the first dances with their parents. Derek also surprised Meg with a bagpipe player when entering the reception! The couple has been together for 15 years, so each table had a number and picture representing the years of their relationship.
The ambiance was a whirlwind of romance, fun, and travel. Details included a Victoria Sdukous custom designed dress, Badgley Mischka shoes, custom suit from Nicholas Joseph Custom Tailors, a vintage suitcase holding the cards, a guest book globe, ice cream bar and cigar bar!
It’s inevitable that every bride will be given a lot of advice when planning a wedding, Meg says “truly take the time to think what both of you want. We really though about what we wanted first and then started planning around ideas. Just remember this is your day to celebrate your marriage.”
My personal favorite things from the weekend: The couple’s love story (one of the best ones I’ve ever heard), the amazing boat party, the portraits on the golf course at sunset and the ice cream bar!!! Yummo.
Thank You, Meg and Derek, for inviting me along to Lake Geneva to capture another milestone in your journey!
