Katie and Kurt are one of the sweetest couples I have ever worked with. From the very beginning, Katie was so fun to work with and bounce ideas around with. From their engagement session to their wedding, I had such a heartfelt blast with them. And I am here to confirm that the rumors are true that Katie does indeed give the worlds best hugs.
The wedding took place in Pontiac at St. Mary’s Church and the reception was at The Walton Centre in Fairbury, Illinois. Katie’s details from the invites, to her dress, jewelry, and table coverings were full of significance and romantic antique vision.
Katie’s inspiration for her dream wedding was focused around her love for antiques. She came across an old copper tea kettle and started brainstorming how she could incorporate that look into the wedding. She then included colors of Navy, Lilac, Yellow, Copper, Sage, and Peach!
One of Katie’s favorite details was borrowing her Grandmother’s pearls. She grew up just three houses down from her Grandma making her a very special person in her life.
The most important part of planning the day for them was making sure their loved ones were going to be there. They wanted the party to be just as much for them as it was for Katie and Kurt. They believe the group of family and friends helped shaped them into who they are today. The family did not disappoint in helping reach their party goals because I don’t think there was a single person not dancing. At one point, Katie literally made every single soul get on the dance floor for a photo ( And had a very tall ladder for me to be able to get this shot) The girl literally thought of everything this day!
Katie plays back her favorite moment being sitting at the head table, looking around and seeing all her guests and remembers taking a moment to appreciate all the love in the room and that they were all there to celebrate this day with them. She says that she and Kurt have family and friends all with very big hearts and they love them dearly. She also remembers a feeling of relief after the ceremony and tears of joy so she could relax and party. Kurt recalls his favorite moment of the day is when he dipped his bride at the alter for their very first kiss as husband and wife!
When I asked Katie if she had any advice for future brides, she said “Relax! Everything WILL work out! Such a cliche saying but entirely true. On the day of your wedding, be sure to take a moment and look at everyone you’re surrounded by. All the love in the atmosphere is such a wonderful and comforting feeling.”
I say this often, but it truly is something special to work with a couple over the course of a year or more helping them prepare for their big day. Katie, you were a blessing of a bride to work with, and your soul is so sunny. I adored working with you both and can’t wait to see The Russow journey grow. Thank You for having me!
